Newsletter
On our website you have the option to subscribe to our newsletter. You can unsubscribe from our newsletter by clicking on the unsubscribe link provided in each newsletter. If you register for our newsletter, we store and process the email address, first name and surname you provide. The specification of the email address is mandatory for the delivery of the newsletter. Your name is required to allow us to address you correctly. The data is processed based on your consent (Art. 6 Para. 1 lit. a GDPR). we will store your data until we receive your notice by which you revoke your consent, and thereupon for as long as we are legally obliged to do so.
The newsletter is distributed by MailChimp email marketing service, a marketing platform of US company Rocket Science Group, LLC, 675 Ponce De Leon Ave NE #5000, Atlanta, GA 30308, USA.
MailChimp is a service through which the dispatch of newsletters can be organised and analysed. Data provided to subscribe to the newsletter (e.g. email address) will be stored on MailChimp’s servers in the United States.
MailChimp is certified under the EU-US Privacy Shield. The Privacy Shield is an agreement between the European Union (EU) and the United States to ensure compliance with European privacy standards within the United States.
With the help of MailChimp we can analyse our newsletter campaigns. When you open an e-mail sent by MailChimp, a file included in the e-mail (web beacon) connects to MailChimp’s servers in the United States. This way, it can be determined whether a newsletter message has been opened and which links, if any, have been clicked on. Additionally, technical data (e.g. time of retrieval, IP address, browser type and operating system) is collected. This data cannot be assigned to the respective newsletter recipient and is used exclusively for statistical analysis of newsletter campaigns. Data from the analyses can be used to better tailor future newsletters to the interests of the recipient.
If you do not want your data to be analysed by MailChimp then you must unsubscribe from the newsletter. A link to unsubscribe is provided in every newsletter message.
Date processing is based on your consent in accordance with Art. 6 Para. 1 lit. a GDPR. You can revoke consent at any time by unsubscribing from the newsletter. The legality of information processed prior to revocation of consent remains unaffected.
Information submitted to us for the purpose of receiving the newsletter will be used by us until removal, per request, from the newsletter mailing list; all subscription information will be removed from our servers as well as those of MailChimp. Information that has been stored with us for other reasons, such as e-mail addresses for the Members Portal, will remain unaffected.
For more details, please refer to MailChimp's privacy policy.
We have entered into a Data-Processing-Agreement with MailChimp, in which MailChimp commits to protecting the data of our visitors and to not sharing it with third parties.
Third party cookies
The following third-party cookies are used on our website for analysis and marketing purposes. The legal basis for the use of these cookies is your consent.
Matomo
We use the open source tool "Matomo" (formerly "PIWIK") for statistical evaluation and web analysis.
Cookies are used for this purpose. The information generated by the cookie about the use of the website is transferred to our servers and summarised in pseudonymous user profiles. The information is not passed on to third parties.
We see this analysis as an integral part of our online service. This information helps to consistently improve the website and optimise it according to user needs.
Under no circumstances will the IP address be linked to other user-related data. The IP addresses are anonymised so that an allocation is not possible (IP masking).
Meta Pixel
On the basis of and for the purposes of our legitimate interests of analysis, optimisation, and commercial operation regarding our online services, said services employ Meta Pixel, a tool operated by Meta Platforms Ireland Ltd., 4 Grand Canal Square, Grand Canal Harbour, Dublin 2, Ireland („Meta“). Meta relies on the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) for transfers of online advertising and measurement personal data out of the European Economic Area and compliance with European data protection laws.
Using Meta Pixel, Meta can categorise the visitors of our online services as a target group for advertisements (“Facebook Ads”). As a result, we use Meta Pixel to show our Facebook Ads only to those Facebook users who have demonstrated an interest in our online services or who have certain characteristics (e.g. an interest in particular topics or products, determined using websites visited) which we communicate to Meta (“Custom Audiences”).
We also use Meta Pixel to ensure that our Facebook Ads correspond to the user’s potential interests and are not annoying. Using Meta Pixel, we can also track the effectiveness of Facebook Ads for purposes of statistics and market research by seeing if users are redirected to our website by clicking on a Facebook Ad (“Conversion”).
Meta Pixel is immediately integrated by Meta when our website is accessed; it can store a cookie, i.e. a small file, on your device. If you subsequently log in to Facebook or visit Facebook while logged in, your visit to our online services is noted in your profile. The data collected about you are anonymous for us and therefore do not allow us to infer user identities. However, the data are saved and processed by Meta, so a connection to the respective user profile may be made and used by Meta for purposes of its own market research and advertisement.
Should we share any data with Meta for purposes of reconciliation, they will be encrypted locally in the browser before being sent to Meta via an encrypted https connection. This is only done to reconcile with Meta's similarly-encrypted data.
Data processing through Meta is subject to Meta’s privacy policy. General information regarding the display of Facebook Ads can be found in Meta's privacy policy. Specific information and details regarding Meta Pixel and how it works can be found in Meta’s help section.
You can opt out of data capture by Meta Pixel and the use of your data to display Facebook Ads. To determine which kinds of advertisements can be shown to you on Facebook, you can open Facebook’s corresponding page and follow the instructions to adjust the settings for user-based advertisements. These settings are platform-independent, i.e. they are synchronised for all devices such as desktop computers or mobile devices.
YouTube with expanded data protection integration
This website uses the YouTube embedding function to display and play videos from the provider "YouTube". The operator of the pages is Google Ireland Limited (“Google”), Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland.
We use YouTube in the expanded data protection mode. According to YouTube, this mode ensures that YouTube does not store any information about visitors to this website before they watch the video. Nevertheless, this does not necessarily mean that the sharing of data with YouTube partners can be ruled out as a result of the expanded data protection mode. For instance, regardless of whether you are watching a video, YouTube will always establish a connection with the Google DoubleClick network.
As soon as you start to play a YouTube video on our website, a connection to YouTube’s servers will be established. As a result, the YouTube server will be notified, which of our pages you have visited. If you are logged into your YouTube account while you visit our site, you enable YouTube to directly allocate your browsing patterns to your personal profile. You have the option to prevent this by logging out of your YouTube account.
Furthermore, after you have started to play a video, YouTube will be able to place various cookies on your device. With the assistance of these cookies, YouTube will be able to obtain information about our website visitor. Among other things, this information will be used to generate video statistics with the aim of improving the user friendliness of the site and to prevent attempts to commit fraud.
Under certain circumstances, additional data processing transactions may be triggered after you have started to play a YouTube video, which are beyond our control.
The use of YouTube is based on our interest in presenting our online content in an appealing manner. Pursuant to Art. 6 Para. 1 lit. f GDPR, this is a legitimate interest. If a corresponding agreement has been requested (e.g. an agreement to the storage of cookies), the processing takes place exclusively on the basis of Art. 6 Para. 1 lit. a GDPR; the agreement can be revoked at any time.
For more information on how YouTube handles user data, please see YouTube's Privacy Policy.
Rejection of unsolicited emails
We herewith object to the use of contact information published in conjunction with the mandatory information to be provided in section “Information Required by Law” to send us promotional and information material that we have not expressly requested. The operators of this website and its pages reserve the express right to take legal action in the event of the unsolicited sending of promotional information, for instance via spam messages.
