Next to the proved International IRO Testing Events as well as to the continuous increasing offering of IRO courses and trainings the IRO also carries out the annual Rescuedog World Championship and the biennal International Rescuedog-Symposium, which always takes place in another country.
The "latest" idea, which has been tested in Austria for the first time in 2008 on national level with great success is the International Day of Search and Rescue Dogs, which was carried out on April 26th 2009 as a worldwide event now. The International Day of Search Rescue Dogs will now take place each year on the last Sunday in April.
Next to numeruous "Standard-Events" the IRO is, due to its international tasks, constantly part of new projects, who serve the rescue dog character.
For example - in 2008 a study of the IRO Commission of Science and Research took place in Dubai. The study was about the deployment of rescue dogs in hot climate zones. Beside of IRO dog teams, staff of the University of Munich and the IRO member organisation "Dubai Police" esentially participated in this study.
